Chicago Blackhawks’ Trevor van Riemsdyk To Miss 5-6 Weeks

Chicago Blackhawks Men's Jersey introduced Trevor van Riemsdyk back in the lineup, but he's back quickly due to injury

On Friday evening, the Chicago Blackhawks dropped a 3-2 decision to the Columbus Blue Jackets. It was the second game of the season for defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk, who last played in the season opener against St. Louis.

It was not very good against the Blues, leading the Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville benching TVR for the next three games. The doughouse passing for TVR ended last night, but we will not see much of him in the near future.

TVR suffered an upper-body injury trying to break a scoring chance by Josh Anderson Jackets in the second period. He went crashing hard into the goal behind Corey Crawford and has not been seen on the ice again.

It is not known exactly what the illness is TVR, but it showed in the locker room Blackhawks on Saturday in a sling and could miss 5-6 weeks with the injury to his upper body.

What this means for the Blackhawks now

Now I'm not a fan of TVR, but I did not want to see from the range by injuries. It is never good to take a shot at your defensive depth, no matter how this depth could be in trouble. And it is never good for anyone to get hurt.

On the positive side, the Blackhawks will hopefully be exempted crazy shenanigans lineup Q with TVR on. Of course, we still have the in-line mixer, which was whirring fans nuts so fast last night and bolts were hit near the bench.

But it should hopefully avoid Q to the act seven defenders, he shot last night, to actively hurt the cause of his team. Of course, they rolled up losing by a goal, but the icing 12 forwards (granted, one of them was Jordin Tootoo independently) could have made a huge difference in the outcome of the game.

Q could still ride with seven defensemen if he really wants, I guess. Michal Rozsival has still not adapted to a game this season and is always on the list. But my hope would be the Blackhawks call someone not named Brandon Mashinter or Kyle Baun and start icing 12 forwards.

What this means for the defense of Blackhawks

the absence of TVR, while a dinger deep, should not change much for the current Blackhawks blue line. Things have been better than last season, but they are still far from perfect.

Pairings of Niklas Hjalmarsson, Duncan Keith, Gustav Forsling-Brian Campbell and Michal Kempny-Brent Seabrook. At this point, none of these pairings was so totally offensive that they can not be given more time to mesh (or, in the case of the first pair, just continue to be good).

The Blackhawks would honestly stupid to call another defender here. Rozsival can play a few games here and there, and there is no reason to believe any of Campbell, Kempny Forsling or tired early in the season.

The Blackhawks did a good job keeping the minutes of these guys relatively controlled until now, there is no reason to be their rest. And none of them played so poorly that anyone in the American League would be an improvement. nba sports blog.

Chicago needs to work with what he has now. The loss of TVR is far from the one that can derail a season, but it would be difficult to say that the country is now on the slopes.
